Jovial Board Gamers Society

The Jovial Board Gamers Society was formed in November of 2006. They have met on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month for the past 3 years.

JBGS

JBGS

JBGS was formed by BoardGameGeek member glsonn (my father). At each Gathering we have anywhere from 6-20 people come and play games for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, sometimes even 7 hours on a Friday night. It’s a great place to unwind and enjoy yourself. Need more reasons to join us?

  1. No prerequisites – You don’t have to know the first thing about games to join us. We have some of the BEST teachers in-house (myself humbly included). We are willing to teach you how to play anything from Checkers to Carcassonne to Agricola. If you don’t like the first game we teach you, don’t worry we’ll find something you like. It hasn’t failed yet.
  2. No cost – Forget spending $10 for a movie ticket, $5 for popcorn, and $3 for a drink, for a mere 2 hours of hopeful entertainment. Join us and we’ll give you a selection of 75+ games, memorable conversations, new friendships, chips, cookies, popcorn, soda, and 4+ hours of guaranteed entertainment for 3 easy payments of $19.95 FREE! And remember: The best things in life are free.
  3. No need to bring games – Like I said we have TONS of games to choose from, but feel free to bring your own. Many people do.
  4. Make new friends – It’s been proven time and again, we are a friendly group. We’ll make fast friends. If you’re really going to feel uncomfortable, bring a friend of your own. The more the merrier and you’ll be one step ahead of us because you’ll know someone that we don’t.
  5. Spend time with old friends – This could be the friend you bring along or perhaps you’ll just have to come back a second time to fulfill this one. We won’t forget you.
  6. Learn something new – I honestly believe it’s good to learn something new every day. Sadly, I can’t say that I always do, but here’s your chance for today.
  7. Challenge yourself… – by learning a new game, by trying out a new strategy, by making a new friend, by stepping out of your comfort zone and joining us for a fun-filled evening.
  8. Call someone a JERK – You heard me right. Well, you read that right. It our house rule: You are free to call anyone a Jerk within the confines of the game. No need to feel guilty about it. I even call my parents Jerks. On the flip side of that though, if someone calls you a Jerk, DO NOT APOLOGIZE. It’s against our rules and it just means you’re playing a good game. You just made it harder for your opponent to win (which is a good thing for you). Congratulations!

If you would like to join us we meet at:

1608 Pleasantview Ave
Waukesha, WI

The festivities tend to commence around 6:30PM, but we’ve had people show up as late as 10PM. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them on the blog or contact glsonn or MTSonnenberg at BGG.

Look at that! It’s the 3rd Friday of the month. Hope to see you tonight!
