“What we need is a great feat of strength. Au contraire! Now that you’re here with me, what we have is great strength of feet!” ~ Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Make it official! I now have 300 game plays. No, this is not 300 games played, this is 300 plays of a single game and to my knowledge this is more than anyone else in the world! What game is this, you ask? It is the one, the only, Agricola. A few things I would like to clear up before I continue:
This may seem crazy to a lot of you and I understand. I would’ve thought it was crazy too, a year and a half ago. What you should understand though is that my family plays a lot of games in general. When we first got Agricola it took us a week or two to really understand it and get people to play it. However once we got most of the kinks worked out, we were on a roll. For the next month or so we played EVERY DAY. Seriously. We even got my mom hooked, which I must say is quite a feat, but also a large factor in our number of plays.
What I find most amazing about this game though is that it’s still evolving. We’re 300 plays in and I’m still exploring new strategies and finding new card combinations. I’m always excited to play. Even if I get dealt awful cards I love trying to win with them. I love teaching new people how to play. I love watching their face as things start to click (this will probably take their entire first game) and I especially love to see a new player’s first win (I am not unbeatable).
So I don’t know if you love this game as much as I do, but I think you should.
Do you know someone who plays Agricola?
More than me?
I would love to hear from both of you. Game On!
